All-Natural & Vegan Skincare for Acne-Prone Skin
Let’s face it, acne sucks. Big time. Like, über hella mega big time. I’m in my frickin’ 30s and I feel like done did my time during my pubescent years so WTF? I know, I know hormones, whatevah. Anywho, luckily I (we) don’t have to passively sit back and take it – we can proactively zap those zits and stop ’em in their tracks, and do so naturally! More and more, I find myself seeking all-natural alternatives for the conventional toxic crap that’s being mass produced. I’ve truly found some gems over the years that have changed my skin for the better, and I have to share them with you.
All-Natural & Vegan Skincare for Acne-Prone Skin
Pacifica Kale Detox Deep Cleansing Face Wash, $10 – Clean skin is one of the best ways to prevent breakouts (ha, that and not touching your face throughout the day, which is something I definitely need to work on). This gel face wash is fortified with super green phytonutrients including kale, seaweed and blue seakale along with mangosteen and coconut water. It removes makeup effortlessly (even level 5 war paint) and all the gunky stuff hidin’ out in your pores. It’s formulated without silicone, animal ingredients, petroleum, parabens and phthalates. Available at Ulta.
Spin for Perfect Skin Sonic-Cleansing Facial Brush, $30 with free shipping (70% off!) when ordering through VanityPlanet.com with coupon code 2SPIN25SUN. This brush is my everything and works like a charm with Pacifica’s Kale Detox cleanser ↑! It’s gentle and effective (seriously deep cleans, and waaaaay better than my makeup stained wash cloth) and it has a lovely massage-y vibe. It comes with 1 cleansing brush handle, 1 gentle facial brush, 1 exfoliating facial brush, 1 body brush, and 1 pumice stone. It’s a lotta bang for the buck and it not only helps prevent acne on my face, but the body brush keeps my whole shebang in check. Available in pink, black, and purple now, too. Color options always make me excited. 😉
100% Pure Mint & White Tea Tonique, $28 – Toner is an essential skincare step that I feel I lot of peeps chintz out on. It basically helsp remove excess oils and dead skin cells that may lurk on the face after washing (essential for fighting acne). This toner is made specifically to treat normal to oily skin but is gentle enough for all skin types. It packed with antioxidants, hyaluronic acid, hydrating organic white tea, and organic aloe. It smells and feel delicious on the skin.
Mychelle Clear Skin Clarifying Pads, $18.75 – Mychelle makes insanely effective skincare using all-Motha Nature’s all-natural ingredients. These wipes are handy for on-the-go, travel or for using at the gym after a workout. They help treat and prevent acne without over drying your skin (←rare attribute for this kind of a thing, so I’m a big fan!).
Juice Beauty Blemish Clearing Serum, $29 – After cleansing and toning, ya betta use a serum! Ha, I’m sort of a militant skincare routine fiend. 😉 This one is perfect for reducing breakouts and unclogging pores. It’s packed with organic fruit acids and willow bark (which contains natural salicylic acid) as well as CoQ10, Vitamin C and organic aloe – it clears and hydrates at the same time.
Indie Lee Blemish Lotion, $26 – This stuff is magical! It instantly (well, overnight-style) dries out zits – it’s crazy! Heads up, it does have a medicinal, alcohol-y smell (it contains sulfur, ← a natural antibiotic, salicylic acid, zinc, alcohol, camphor, and magnesium), and it is bright pink when you apply it (so def wear at beddies) – but hey, that’s the price you pay for magic, right? LOVE.
Osea Blemish Balm, $42 – If you’re anything like me, the thought of smearing any type of heavy, gooey, oily, or slippery moisturizer on after cleansing your acne-attacked mug, makes you cringe. This is the ONLY moisturizer I will use during a breakout. It’s light, non-greasy, and it actively heals blemishes and gently hydrates without clogging pores. It contains OSEA’s proprietary trio of organic seaweeds and a healing blend of Cypress, Juniper, and Rosemary essential oils, known for their antibacterial, antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties.
Indie Lee Clearing Mask, $60 – THIS. Like, seriously, wow. It’s got all the blemish blasting badass ingredients like bentonite clay, zinc oxide, colloidal sulfur, salicylic, glycolic, and hyaluronic acids, seaweed extract, camphor (and more) – and you can literally feel the gunk being lifted from your pores when you use it. Downside: the price tag. 😮 It’s definitely a splurge but worth it imho.
